Why I love Arley Hall

"One of my favourite gardens is Arley Hall, where plenty of inspiration awaits in the many 'rooms' of the garden. My favourite area is the kitchen garden, and the herbaceous border is lovely."

Anne Swithinbank, Garden Writer and Presenter

Tip from the top

"There are some new features at Fletcher Moss this year. The bowling green has been converted into a planted area with pergolas and a selection of climbers. People already think it looks pretty impressive, and now it'll be even better. The main drive has scented plants, with azaleas and rhododendrons. We're also working on new shade beds."

John Steedman, Assistant Manager for Parks, Manchester

Why I love Lancashire

"I love the gardens of Lancashire as they unite the garden owners passion for plants with warm-hearted and welcoming Lancastrian hospitality."

Christine Walkden, Garden Presenter

Tip from the top

"I love the overall lushness and variety in this garden. Few people would realise that the island beds were only created eight years ago it's amazing how far they've come on. In July and August they are filled with a mixture of herbaceous plants and shrubs like hostas, sedums, heucheras, canna lilies, skimmia and phormium colours and textures that contrast with the black and white hall in the background.."

Patrick Hassell, Head Gardener, Speke Hall

Why I love Holehird

"An inspirational Cumbrian treat, Holehird has the most spectacular views. Within the gardens, there’s a plantsman’s feast including alpines, heathers and deep indulgent herbaceous borders that send you running home to tweak your own..."

Penny Meadmore, Garden Designer
